According to the Domesday Book (circa 1086) the manor of Wandsworth had shared ownership between William, son Anscufly and St Wandrille’s Abbey. Wandsworth has been the destination for waves of immigrants from around the early 16th century. These have included Protestant Dutch metalworks who were escaping persecution in the1590s, more recently Wandsworth has become the home of many Eastern Europeans.
Wandsworth has a small foreign population in comparison to other parts of London (28.1%). The largest foreign population in Wandsworth is South African.
A well known landmark of Wandsworth is the Ram Brewery setup by Young & Co. Brewery has produced draught beer on this set for 425 years, from 1581 to 2006 when the brewery was closed.
Another well known site in Wandsworth is its gas plant, built in 1834 next to the River Thames and close to the Wandsworth Bridge. Originally owned by the Wandsworth and Putney Gaslight and Coke company, several takeovers and mergers have led to it becoming the Wandsworth and District Gas Company since 1936.
Wandsworth Common offers a fabulous green space for residents, set back from the river and at the top of East Hill it is bordered by the ‘the Toast Rack’ an area where some of the most highly priced town houses in London can be found.
Another Notable residential area in old Wandsworth is the Tonsleys on Old York Road. This has the appearance of a village with Shops and Cafe’s at its center. Also the Tonsleys have three well known pubs: the East Hill, Alma and the Royal Standard.
Wandsworth used to have a busy wharf area, but this has now be re-developed into new apartment blocks which include restaurants and bars. One well known Wandsworth pub is the Ship Inn and another the Waterfront.
Recently regenerated by the Southside shopping centre, Wandsworth High Street contains some great shopping outlets, restaurants and a cinema. The River Wandle flows behind the shopping centre, this goes upstream to Earlsfield.
Wandsworth Prison built in 1851 is Category B men’s prison, being the biggest prison in London and one of the biggest in Europe.

More complex amendments are probably better left to us. Our hourly rate is competitive and we charge in fifteen minute intervals (minimum charge half an hour).
